ARGENTINA

This mural was commissioned by the Unión Vecinal del Barrio Mosconi, in Ensenada, Argentina, summer 2007. This impoverished neighborhood, suffering from rampant unemployment and environmental contamination due to neighboring factories and coal plants, elected to showcase their difficulties through a public mural. Working with local artist Melina Slobodian, artists from the Facultad de Bellas Artes de La Plata and Greta McLain, this mosaic mural of Che Guevara brought publicity and created a visual forum for community members to voice their concerns about their situation. All materials were donated from community members and all artist work volunteered.
