KAPLAN BROTHERS

This mural was designed and painted by St. Paul’s Lutheran Church’s youth group, in accordance with a graffiti prevention micro grant. Youth 11-16 years-old, volunteered their time during the month of August 2008 to paint the side of local business Kapalan Bros, a frequent victim of gang graffiti and vandalism. The youth critically analyzed their community, its negative and positive aspects before deciding on imagery meant to empower and bring hope for positive change in their neighborhood.
